Random Blogging For Monday February 24th

Good Morning!  Happy Monday..  Hope you had a great weekend.  Here’s what you missed on today’s show.

The Morning Brain Buster:

Q.  Around 20 million people have quit their jobs because of THIS reason.  What reason?

A.  Because their mothers told them to.

Bonehead Of The Day:

A Florida woman called 911 over and over from inside a shopping cart because a store employee was asking her to get out.

The 40-year-old called while sitting in the cart and told the dispatcher that a man was trying to take her cart.

When cops got there an employee told them he'd asked her multiple times for the cart back.

The cop told her to give him the cart back because it was their property, then he left.

She called 911 again, and the officer went back and told her to stop misusing 911. She called 911 again while the cop was standing with her.

She was arrested but never showed up for her court date.

Plane Window Breaks In Mid Flight, Caught On Camera

A pilot was flying a single-engine plane into a small

Florida airport at 170 miles an hour when the window of his plane exploded in mid air.

A bird crashed through his window, and in a split second the window was gone and blood was everywhere because of a cut on the pilot's forehead.

The pilot of 11 years radioed for an emergency, and caught it all on camera.

Alone and more than 1,000 feet of the ground, the pilot says all he could do was hold on tight and fly his plane.

The lucky pilot landed safely, but he's still bummed that he now has to replace a broken window.

New App Helps You Fight Parking Tickets

There's a new iPhone app that will help you fight parking tickets.

The app called Fixed is expected to launch this week. The app suggests reasons the ticket might be invalid, gathers supporting evidence and submits the proper appeals paperwork.

If the driver beats the ticket, they pay Fixed 25% of what the citation would have cost. If they can't get out of the ticket Fixed doesn't charge them anything.

Diet Coke Addict Drinks Up To 50 Cans A Day

When a British woman started putting on weight as a teenager, her doctor suggested that she swap regular Coke for the lower-calorie diet version and her addiction began.

The 42-year-old woman has spent as much as over $250,000 over the last three decades, and at one point the single mother of five would finish up to 50 cans a day.

While she has tried to tackle her addiction, she still gets through the equivalent of 30 cans a day and is pleading for help.

She says, ‘This addiction is taking over my life. I've only got one bottle in the house so I'm feeling quite panicky. I'm sweating, shaking and pacing up and down. I've reached a point where this has got to stop.'

She also said she suffers constant headaches and recently began experiencing hallucinations which she blames on the drink.

What If You Could Pee Away Your Fat

There's a new injection that lets people pee out fat.

The new treatment is called Aqualyx and it claims to be an effective alternative to liposuction.

A water solution is injected into the fatty areas around the body, breaking down excess fat cells, allowing people to absorb them into their bloodstream and then pee them out.

But some experts say the new injection isn't healthy because when the broken-down fat is absorbed in the blood it can cause cholesterol levels to skyrocket.

Want To Lose Weight?  Play Tetris

Playing Tetris can help people lose weight by distracting them.

Researchers said playing the classic game for just three minutes can reduce natural cravings long enough to stave them off.

They say it works by distracting the person's brain so they don't have time to visualize snacks.

It can also help people fend off alcoholic drinks or cigarettes.

Worst Car Names Ever

Chevrolet Nova

The Chevrolet Nova sold poorly in Mexico and Venezuela because nobody in General Motors marketing noticed that the literal Spanish translation of Nova is "no go." The problem with this legendary misstep is that there is no evidence that the Nova sold poorly in Spanish-speaking countries.

Subaru Brat
The name of this junior Chevy El Camino rip-off was an acronym for Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter.

Suzuki Esteem
The Suzuki Esteem sounds like a Japanese self-help program for drivers with low self-worth.

Hummer
Do you think for one second that when GM bought the brand in 1998 and brought a line of these trucks into mass production, the executives were not aware of the other definition of the term?

Dodge Dart Swinger
What kind of a wink-wink, nudge-nudge gesture was Chrysler attempting in 1969, two years after the Summer of Love, when the company added the Swinger moniker to the car?

Chevrolet Citation
The car had a poor reputation for reliability and barely enough performance capability to get a speeding ticket.

Ford Probe
Were Ford marketers kidnapped by space aliens before they released this model?

Studebaker Dictator
When Studebaker introduced the car in 1927, the company intended that it would "dictate" a standard for excellence to the auto industry. A couple of years later, along came a guy named Adolf Hitler, and, well, nobody names a car Dictator anymore.

Turn Your Smartphone Into A Gameboy

The original Game Boy is part of retro gaming history, and now a website can help fans mimic the classic console on their smartphones.

The Game Boy emulator recreates the handset on users' screens and allows them to play 13 games including Mario Land, Tetris and Space Invaders.

All the game requires is a touchscreen in order to use the buttons, which means it cannot be played on a PC.

The games use the same controls as the original console and can be played in either portrait or landscape mode, allowing gamers more room to use the buttons.

*Modern-day iPhones have roughly 650 times the processing power of the first Game Boy to be released.
