Man Who Kissed A Nurse In A Famous World War II Times Square Pic Has Died

The man who claimed he was the kissing sailor in an iconic Life magazine photograph celebrating the end of World War Two has died.   He was 86.

The black-and-white photo showed a sailor locked in a kiss with a nurse in New York's Times Square.

For years, many men claimed to be the sailor in the photograph.

In 2007, Time Magazine reported that Glenn Edward McDuffie was most likely the man. Their report was based on an analysis by a police forensic artist.

McDuffie claimed he never spoke to the nurse before he kissed her during celebrations to mark the end of fighting with Japan in August 1945. He was 18 at the time. He kept quiet about the picture for years and only came forward in 1980, when the editors of Life were looking for the two people in the photograph.

His daughter said that when women asked to recreate the photograph with him, he gave them a peck on the cheek.

McDuffie spent most of his post-war years in Houston, Texas and the last years of his life included poor health. He’ll be buried in a veteran's cemetery in Dallas.

Yes Waiter, There Is A Bug In Her Soup

A woman in New York found a large, disgusting bug in soup from a restaurant.

The woman stopped by Mi Mundo Restaurant and ordered herself a sancocho. Sancocho is a Latin American soup that is usually made with large pieces of meat and vegetables. It doesn’t include large insects, but when the woman took down a few spoonfuls, she noticed the bug in her bowl.

She told her waiter, he took the soup, got rid of the bug and the restaurant’s owner offered a refund. She thinks it was a silverfish bug.

The woman received medical attention at a hospital because of nausea. She’s planning to hire an attorney and file a lawsuit.

An investigation found the restaurant has some problems with the Health Department. It has a pending “C” rating and violations that include evidence of live mice living there, filth flies, and “food contact surfaces” that are not properly washed.

The Secrets To Long Life.. Get Naked and Drink Coffee

According to a new book by one of the world’s top cancer specialists, there are small changes that could dramatically add years to your life. Here they are:

Strip and Go Naked: Take a good look at yourself naked in front of a mirror to help you spot any signs of skin cancer.

No Airport Scanners: Until science can prove their long-term safety, request a pat-down massage at airports.

Throw Out Your High Heels: Inflammation has been linked to diseases like heart disease, Alzheimer’s, cancer, auto-immune diseases, and more.

Uncomfortable shoes cause unnecessary inflammation in your feet that can have an impact on your whole system.

Wake Up With Coffee: Drinking coffee or tea in moderation has long been shown to have positive benefits on our health.

Eat at the Same Time: A great way to reduce stress on your body is to maintain a regular eating routine, which helps prevent surges in the stress hormone- cortisol.

Have a Flu Shot: It helps protect you from the flu and it prevents the inflammation you get during the flu that can increase your lifetime risk for obesity, heart attack, stroke and cancer.Stop Slouching: Besides neck and back problems, poor posture can also cause headaches, arthritis, poor circulation, difficulty breathing, indigestion, and more.

Stand Up: There is a link between spending more time sitting and a greater risk for obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and early death.

Take aspirin daily: Many studies have confirmed that the use of aspirin reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, and can even ward off some cancers through its anti-inflammatory powers.

Buy Fruits and Veggies: By the time most food reaches your supermarket, it doesn’t contain nearly the same amount of nutrients as when the crop was picked.

Unless you can buy truly fresh local produce that’s in season, opt for frozen fruits and vegetables, because they tend to be picked at their peak.

Avoid Vitamins: Many studies have shown that taking vitamin supplements is related to an increased risk of serious diseases such as cancer with little benefit to health.

Have Children: If you have children you’ll be more likely to live longer than your childless folks because raising a child helps us to remain active and mentally challenged.

Sip a Glass of Wine: Moderate alcohol intake, especially red wine, can reduce the risk for heart disease.

Give Us a Smile: Smiling will boost your mood and trigger the release of pain-killing, brain-happy endorphins and seratonin which reduce harmful stress levels.

Arrested.. For Refusing To Give Up Their WhiteCastle

Two men are suing the NYPD claiming they were arrested for refusing to hand over their White Castle hamburgers to police officers.

The lawsuit relates to any incident where police approached them as they got out of a taxi with a bag full of White Castle sliders.  The cops suspected the men of looting and demanded the bag of food, but they refused to hand over their meal.

The two men claim they were then hit with the cop's flashlights, handcuffed, and later charged with obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct.

The charges against them were ultimately dismissed.
