Random Blogging For Tuesday December 17th

T-8 days and counting.. Are you ready for xmas?  I'm looking forward to spending some time with family this weekend and next week.  Hope you're able to spend time with the ones you love.  Here's what you missed on today's show.

The Morning Brain Buster:

Q.  According to a new study, almost 1 out of 5 women admit to trying to stop their man from doing this. What?

A.   Hanging out with their friends!

Bonehead Of The Day:

A Texan woman known as the real-life Mrs Grinch for stealing Christmas lights has been sentenced to 70 years in prison.

The 43-year-old woman was caught on video stealing lights from a neighbor's home while they were sleeping.

She was arrested again a few months later, after she stole a weed killer and a power washer from another person's garage.

She has a number of previous convictions including an assault charge against a family member and a conviction for solicitation of a murder.

Mega Millions Jackpot Jumps, Could Reach 1 Billion

The Mega Millions jackpot could end up reaching the $1 billion mark.

The jackpot had no winner on Friday which means the $550 million pot keeps rising. It's now over $586 million.

The cash option would be $316 million.

Unfortunately you have a better chance of being killed by an asteroid than of winning the jackpot - 1 and 259 million to be exact.

If there isn't a winner tonight the pot will jump again heading into Friday.

The top 5 Mega Millions jackpots:

1. March 2012 - $656 million

Apple Reveals Top App Downloads Of 2013

"Candy Crush Saga" was the No. 1 most downloaded free app for the iPhone in 2013.

The game has over 500 million downloads and has been played over 150 billion times, according to developer King.

ALSO:

Communication apps are wildly popular. Vine, a brand new app from Twitter that lets folks make funny six-second videos, was the fourth most downloaded free app. Snapchat, home of photo messages that can disappear within 10 seconds, is No. 6. Instagram, which began as a place to share photos and has evolved into a popular social network is No. 7.

• Despite heated music service competition from Apple, Clear Channel and others, Pandora — the personalized music service — had a great year, coming in at No. 9 on the free app download chart.

Hot apps from 2012 left the top 10 in 2013. The game Draw Something and original Temple Runwere on last year's top 10. The "Flashlight" app, Twitter, Pinterest and Skype were all top downloads last year, but didn't make this year's top 10. YouTube, last year's top download, is No. 2 this year.

NOTE:  More folks have Android phones worldwide, but apps are more widely used on iPhones and iPads in the U.S. According to market researcher Quantcast, 65% of app usage in the U.S. is on Apple's iOS platform, compared with 32% for Android and the remainder for Windows Phone and BlackBerry.

The Reign Of The Windshield Wiper Could Be Coming To An End

You might be saying goodbye to your windshield for good.

Manufacturers are working on a vibrating windshield that will keep water and debris from distracting you from driving. This is similar technology that is used on fighter plane windshields.

Getting rid of your wipers not only saves you from having to replace them over the years it also adds a little less weight and a little more aerodynamics to your car. This would be the first major redesign of windshield wipers since the turn of the century.

No word on when these new windshields may start appearing on our cars.

Rock Hall Of Fame Inductees Announced

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year's inductees: Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt will all join the class of 2014.

Kiss won the fan vote this week, with over 17% of the votes, and Nirvana finished close behind.

The induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on April 10th. It's the first time the general public will be able to attend the event in New York City.

Tickets go on sale in January; HBO will air the event in May.

FYI… artists are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single. Nirvana's first single "Love Buzz" came out in 1988, so they are entering the Hall of Fame after their first year of eligibility.

Kiss have been eligible for the last 15 years, but didn't get the nod until now.

10 Pieces Of Vintage Technology We Couldn't Wait To Have

1-A Tamagotchi. If your robotic pet lived, maybe mom and dad would get you a dog or something.

2-A calculator watch. Some of them even held phone numbers (Casio Data-Bank anyone?)! Fancy.

3-Tape to mp3 converter. Nothing like listening to old cassettes complete with hiss on your home computer.

4-A PDA. They sure made you look smart….and important.

5-VCR/DVD combo. For back when we had both VHS tapes and DVD's. You know, back when trees were small.

6-A CD burner. For back when we had CD's.

7-Your own digital camera. For back when we didn't have them on our phones.

8-Universal remote. 30 remotes suck. One is better!

9-A video game console. Finally…you can play those mindless games whenever you want. And without a quarter. Yep…remember when playing video games cost a quarter?

10-A DeLorean. But only if you could go 88mph baby!

Yumm.. The Cthurkey Makes An Appearance On Twitter:

A Cthurkey is a Christmas dish prepared by a man in Texas-- and it became popular on Twitter over the weekend.

The dish includes a turkey, crab legs, octopus and bacon. Each food is cooked separately and then placed on one plate.

He initially got the idea from his wife who is a big fan of Cthulhu. Cthulhu is a mythical creature that is described as a mix between a giant human, octopus and dragon.

The man said his dinner guests were initially turned off by the meal but enjoyed it once they tried it.

He also has the idea of a chicken-based version called the Cthicken, which he is thinking about deep frying.
