Proms could be a thing of the past, thanks in part to Facebook.

One high school in New York has gradually been forced to cancel dances, such as the Winter Ball, because attendance rates dropped from close to one thousand to a few dozen.

And similar dance cancellations have been happening at schools throughout the US.

One student said that most of her peers would rather be home texting, Facebook messaging or Snapchatting each other rather than going to dances.

Why You Should Never Sleep With Your Cell Phone In Your Bedroom

Experts believe cellphones in the bedroom leads to a poor night’s sleep.

A recent survey found that eight out of 10 of us keep our cellphones on overnight and around half use our phone as an alarm clock.

At the very least, keeping cells in the bedroom makes us hypervigilant so our sleep is more likely to be disturbed, and we don't get enough of the restorative sleep we need.

They also warn it might trigger insomnia and other sleeping problems.

Girls Should Get Major Body Work In High School.. Says This Idiot

A Princeton mom wrote a book and she's giving some controversial advice to high school girls and their need to get ‘work’ done in order to find love.

She said, “if girls don’t do a major body overhaul during their high school years they won’t enter college feeling their best - and that’s the time when they’ll meet prospect husbands and launch their future careers.”

She also says, “There’s no time to choose from extraordinary men like there is in college so ladies need to enter their academic institutions focused and determined.”

Many women believe her backwards advice should not be taken seriously.

50 % Of Women Would Prefer This Over An Engagemnt Ring

A recent poll of 1,000 people in committed relationships found that 50% of female respondents in their 20s would rather go without a diamond engagement ring and put that cash towards a down payment on a house.

In fact, 18 percent of participants said they had already skipped getting a ring for this very reason.

However there appears to be a generational gap with this line of thinking, because only eight percent of women in their 50s and two percent of women in their 60s agreed.

Also 89 percent said their love bond was strengthened by buying a home together

Passengers On Poop Cruise Suing For $5,000 A Month.. For Life

The passengers from the famous 2013 Carnival "poop cruise" were so traumatized by their experience on the boat, they want $5,000 in damages per month—for life.

There are 33 passengers suing over the trip. The Carnival Triumph drifted for days without power, leading to hallways filled with human waste with severe heat making the smell even worse. Many of them say they now suffer from mental issues including PTSD, which is why they need the money.

Carnival said that all passengers were given refunds, $500, and a voucher for a future cruise, and calls the lawsuit "an opportunistic ... money grab."

A ruling is expected within two months. At least nine other lawsuits related to the cruise are pending.

Cheese Wars: Parmesan, Feta..  Bologne & Greek Yogurt Could Lose Their Names In America

As part of trade talks, the European Union wants to ban the use of European names like Parmesan, feta and Gruyere on cheese made in the United States.

The argument is that the American-made cheeses are shadows of the original European ones and cut into sales and identity of the European cheeses.

The Europeans say Parmesan should only come from Parma, Italy, and feta should only be from Greece (even though feta isn't a place).

U.S. dairy producers, cheesemakers and food companies are all fighting the idea, which they say would hurt the $4 billion domestic cheese industry and endlessly confuse consumers.

Slow Poke Bill Coming Closer To Reality

Drivers in Georgia could soon be ticketed for driving too slow.

The Georgia Legislature approved a measure that would allow police to ticket those driving too slowly in the left lanes on the state's highways and interstates.

The "slow poke" bill would require any driver on a divided highway to move to the right when a vehicle going faster comes up from behind or face a misdemeanor charge.

The governor now has to sign the bill into law.
